Use Your HSA/FSA to Save on Wellness

Did you know you can pay for your sauna sessions with pre-tax dollars?

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), your contrast therapy (sauna and cold plunge) may qualify as a 100% tax-deductible medical expense.

Because sauna and cold exposure are clinically proven to assist with specific medical conditions, the IRS allows these funds to be used when the treatment is recommended by a licensed healthcare provider to treat a specific diagnosis.

How it Works:

  1. Get an LMN: Ask your doctor for a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). This letter should state how contrast therapy will help treat a specific condition.
  2. Pay for your Service: Pay for your membership or session using your preferred payment method. Note: We recommend paying with a personal card and submitting your receipt for reimbursement, as some HSA/FSA cards may decline at the terminal based on merchant coding.
  3. Submit for Reimbursement: After your session, we will provide you with a detailed Superbill (medical receipt). Submit this along with your LMN to your HSA/FSA provider.
  4. Keep Your Records: Save your digital Superbill and your LMN for your tax records.

Common Qualifying Conditions (When diagnosed by a doctor):

  • Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia & Arthritis
  • Cardiovascular Health & Hypertension
  • Stress, Anxiety & Depression Management
  • Sleep Disorders & Insomnia
  • Muscle Recovery & Injury Rehabilitation
